MARKETING TECHNIQUES

BETTER MARKETING TECHNIQUES

1)          Good photographs make a really big difference to your sales.   Try and invest in the best quality camera you can afford and try different techniques and lighting to give the best result.   Always take your photographs in daylight, preferably outside.

2)          Make sure your description is accurate.   There is nothing worse than vague information about a product.   I would tend to go elsewhere if there wasn’t a full description.   Your description should include the materials you have used.

3)          Your packaging makes all the difference!   You don’t have to spend a fortune on good packaging.   I tend to buy in bulk to get a really deal. Sometimes you can pick up lovely packaging in sales and shops that are closing down.

4)          The only way to get more sales in my experience is to get the word out about your creations.   Just having your own website is never enough.   Selling on several sites does help, but do think about your budget for this.   Other sites will charge per item for listing and then take a slice of your profit.   This is why at www.Creativestores.co.uk we only charge a small monthly fee of £4.99 with no hidden costs or extras.   You are free to list as many items as you like and they will stay on the site either until they are all sold or you remove them yourself.

5)          You can share all your listings on any networking site e.g. Facebook, Myspace, Bebo or even on your own blogs.

6)          Join other marketing networks, we have our own network at www.Creativestores.co.uk, where you can chat, make new friends, exchange experience and photos.   It is a great way of getting others to see your creations.

7)          Find out where your nearest craft fairs are and usually for a small fee you can hire a table and sell your creations there.   I do this regularly and it works great.

8)          Offer discounts to repeat customers.

9)          Google is the biggest search engine in the world.   Please use the meta tags in each description as this does help when customers are searching in Google.

10)        Don’t give up, sometimes it takes a while to achieve a sale.   It took me months on my website to even get a sale.   Do consider the time of year, you will always sell more around Christmas and holiday times.

Good Luck ~ Laurie x
